Models and SystemsMedia4WellBeing - An interactive media application being designed and developed to access, explore and visualize media based on their impact on emotional states & sense of wellbeing. It presents different interactive features and uses physiological sensors to evaluate the impact on users. Being developed in the context of the Media4WellBeing research collaboration, and Carla Bernardino's MSc. Interactive Visualization of Movies and Videos in Time and Space - Being designed and developed in the sequence of the previous MovieClouds (with temporal dimension) and Sight Surfers (with temporal and spatial dimensions), both descibed below. Our approach has the ultimate goal of helping finding and navigating information through interactive visualizations, and providing insights through analytical tasks or more ludic and artistic uses. Firstly, we focused on the temporal dimension in movies and videos in a way that is possible to explore and access them through time, genre and rating criteria, and inside their contents regarding image, movement, audio, subtitles and emotions. Secondly we extended our goal by considering the spatial dimension, through trajectories like the ones we find in city tours and explored in Sight Surfers. Developed in the context and sequence of the VIRUS and ImTV research projects, Ana Jorge's PhD, and in the first stages with Nuno Gil's MSc. Sight Surfers VR - An application being designed and developed in the sequence of the previous Sight Surfers, with an even stronger focus on immersion in the visualization of 360º videos and other multimedia content, using Virtual Reality glasses. For an increased sense of presence and immersion, it supports 360º spherical content and natural navigational and interaction techniques for its visualization, like body motion and voice commands. Developed in sequence of the ImTV research project, and Rui Pinto's MSc. Speed Sight Surfers - A mobile interactive application for video access based on videos' location and their trajectories' shape and speed, and the time inside and about the videos (when they were captured) - taking their spatial and temporal dimensions into account. It was conceived and designed to explore the interaction and user experience in video access and visualization in diverse use scenarios, through different natural interaction modalities, based on sensors and localization services, with the potential for increased immersion and sense of presence. Developed in the sequence of Windy Sight Surfers. Developed in the context of the ImTV research project, and Sérgio Serra's MSc. Windy Sight Surfers - A mobile interactive application to captures, share, visualize and navigate immersive videos in 360º. It added mobility and flexibility to Sight Surfers, and explored several sensors and interaction modalities to increase perceptual immersion of the users. It also explored the emotional dimension, and its use as a second screen to complement immersive video visualization in large screens, like TVs and larger screens. Developed in the context of the ImTV research project, and João Ramalho's MSc. Sight Surfers - An interactive web application for the visualization and navigation of georeferenced 360º hypervideos, designed to empower users in their immersive video experiences, both accessing other users’ videos and sharing their own, as novel forms of entertainment, culture and even art. Developed in the context of the ImTV research project, and the MSc thesis of Gonçalo Noronha and Carlos Alvares. Get Around 360º Hypervideo - Immersive and interactive interfaces for the visualization and navigation of 360º hypervideos over the Internet. Developed in the context of the ImTV research project, and Luis Neng's MSc. e-iTV - Cross-Media Personalized Learning Environments via Interactive TV - An Interactive TV model and system prototype capable of generating websites to be accessed from several types of devices, in response to learning opportunities created by TV, and taking cognitive, affective and interaction aspects into account. Developed in the context of the ImTV research project, and Alcina Prata's PhD. Projeto LER - A platform to create, manage and apply tests for the adaptive and mobile evaluation of cognitive abilities that allow to preview the development of reading skills in children. Developed in the context of a collaboration on Cognitive Abilities to Preview Development of Reading Skills in Children, with Universidade Federal da Paraíba, Brasil, and Pedro Moita's MSc. EPS Visualizer - An interactive application that allows to visualize tridimensional scenes using the Extended Perspective System (EPS), to navigate and control parameters concerning e.g. the camera, radius and excentricity. The EPS system intends to address the needs and limitations of the classical linear and curvilinear (cylindrical, spherical) perspective systems and to unify them in a unique continuous system, with immersive properties. Developed in the context of the NAADIR research project, and Robin Burgess's MSc. SoundsLike - A game with a purpose! - An interactive application, adopting a human computation approach, to engage users in cataloguing movie soundtracks, based on 'relevance feedback' and integrated in MovieClouds. Developed in the context of the VIRUS research project, and Jorge M. A. Gomes's MSc. MovieClouds - An interactive web application that adopts a tag cloud unifying paradigm for overview, analysis, and exploratory browsing of movie collections and individual movies in the different tracks or perspectives of its content, especially audio and subtitles where most of the semantics is expressed, and with a special focus on the emotional dimensions. Developed in the context of the VIRUS research project, and the MSc thesis of Pedro Martins's and Nuno Gil. iFelt & Emotional Video Album - An interactive web video application that allows to catalogue, access, explore and visualize emotional information about movies, in terms of their contents and in accordance with users’ felt emotions, their profiles, choices and states. Developed in the context of the VIRUS research project, Eva Oliveira's PhD and Pedro Martins's MSc. HVet - In the search of alternative ways to learning veterinary surgery with live animals, hypervideo was considered a promising candidate as a learning tool to support the creation of a rich and realistic learning environment, through the interactive access, construction and communication of knowledge on veterinary surgery. Developed in the context of the HVET collaboration with Brasil and Cláudio Tiellet's PhD. Synesthetic Video - An interactive video that allows to experience video in cross-sensorial ways, to hear its colors and to influence its visual properties with sound and music, through user interaction or ambient influence. Our main motivations include accessibility, enriching users experiences, stimulating and supporting users creativity. Developed in the context of the Multimedia course. ColorsInMotion - Visualizing, exploring and interacting with videos based mainly on color and motion properties. Developed in the context of the collaboration in Creative Evolutionary Video Editing & Digital Video Art, with FCT/UNL and Universidade de Campinas, Brasil, and João Martinho's MSc.
