Luís M.P. Correia (di.ciencias.ulisboa.pt/~lcorreia) is professor at the Department of Informatics of Faculdade de Ciências of Universidade de Lisboa (DI-FCUL) in Portugal. He graduated in Electrical Engineering degree (5 year degree) in 1982, from Instituto Superior Técnico of Universidade Técnica de Lisboa, and he obtained a PhD in Informatics (Behaviour based mobile robots) from Universidade Nova de Lisboa, in 1995. In 2009 he got habilitation from Universidade de Lisboa. From 1982 to 2003 he was practicing assistant, assistant and assistant professor at Universidade Nova de Lisboa. From 2003 to 2020 he was associate professor at Universidade de Lisboa. From 2004 to 2012 he has lead LabMAg research centre, and from 2012 to 2015 he was head of department at DI-FCUL. He coordinated the Agents and Systems Modelling (MAS) group at the Biosystems and Integrative Sciences Institute (BioISI), from 2015 to 2020, and since 2020 he is senior researcher at LASIGE. His research interests are in the area of computational artificial life, autonomous robots, self-organisation in multi-agent systems and machine learning. He has participated in several research projects, 11 international ones, with a leading or co-leading role of the national team in 9 of them. He has supervised 9 PhD and over 30 MSc thesis and wrote over 100 scientific articles for peer reviewed journals and conferences. He is associate editor of of Frontiers in Robotics and AI, Bio-Inspired Robotics section, member of the editorial board of Progress in Artificial Intelligence and of the International Journal of Natural Computing Research (IJNCR), as well as member of the advisory board of EPIA. He has been EU and ANR (France) project evaluator and he regularly participates in program committees of international conferences in the area of artificial life, evolutionary computation and robotics.
